Things to do:

Throughout the summer, Royse City hosts numerous hometown events.  Downtown Main Street, the heart of the city, hosts a farmer market, a classic car show, Halloween themed events, and a Christmas parade you won’t want to miss. 

If you want to get out of the city, take a 15 minute drive to Lake Ray Hubbard.   Rent a boat and explore the lake, drop your lure into the waters to try your luck at fishing, or just enjoy the shores and the relaxing sound of the water.  Although camping on the shores of the lake is prohibited, there are eight access areas and parks open for day use.

And if you want some good Texas style barbecue, Royse City can fill your stomach with a trip to Soulman’s Bar-B-Q where you will fill your cravings and won’t leave disappointed.  Founded in 1974, Soulman’s Bar-B-Q is a staple to the residents of Royse City, contributing to the family feel of the city. 


Education to Royse City youth is provided by Royse City Independent School District (RCISD) and they live and breathe their school vision of “Empowering Students and Shaping the Future."  They believe that building relationships is key to educating students.  Royse City ISD also parallels to cities values in that they believe in upholding the traditions and values of the district and the community and developing character and self-worth.

Royse City ISD consists of 4 elementary schools, 2 intermediate schools, 1 middle school and 2 high schools.   All campuses are accredited by the Texas Education Agency.  From Kindergarten to high school, diverse special programs are available to support the regular curriculum, gifted and talented and special needs.

College education is not an issue either.  With a wide variety of colleges in the area to choose from; Texas A&M-Commerce, SMU, Eastfield and Collin County Community College are all within a 20 to 40 minute drive.
